First major sign that he’s not being truthful are his gestures and expressions. Mouths may lie but faces and body language never do. If guilt is written all over his face he most likely is guilty unless you are reading him wrong.

Another good one to watch for is if he covers his mouth while talking. This is a sign that he’s likely attempting to hold back the lies he’s making and is subconsciously trying to hold them back. This could be as slight a gesture as him putting a finger in front of his lips.

Refusing to make eye contact is often a sign that someone is lying. Since most people know people pick up on this they’ll tend to rub an eye or their eyes instead.

Research has also proven that someone who is lying will get a tingling in their neck which will lead to them grabbing at something near their collar. It is a clear sign that the person speaking is unsure and if you see it right away after something that sounds strange be weary.

Lastly, if someone shakes their head meaning ‘no’ while saying ‘yes’ this is often your best indication that the other person is lying.
